Setting the AF target
Select the single target or group target position.

Press the Fn1 button to display the AF target.
The AF target can also be displayed by pressing the arrow pad.

Use the arrow pad to position the AF target during AF target selection.
The size and number of the AF target changes depending on the [Digital Tele-converter]
(P. 88), [Image Aspect] (P. 54), and group target (P. 39) settings.
Use the [N Custom Settings] (P. 112) in the custom menu to choose the roles of the dials
and FGHI during AF target selection.
Face priority AF/ Eye priority AF
The camera detects faces and adjusts focus and digital ESP.

Press the Fn1 button to display the AF target.
The AF target can also be displayed by pressing the
arrow pad.

Use the rear dial to select an option during AF
target selection.

Face Priority On Face priority is on.

Face Priority Off
Face priority is off.

Face & Eye Priority
On
The autofocus system selects the eye closest to the
camera for face-priority AF.

Face & R. Eye Priority
On
The autofocus system selects the eye on the right for
face-priority AF.
M
Face & L. Eye Priority
On
The autofocus system selects the eye on the left for face-
priority AF.

Point the camera at your subject.
If a face is detected, it will be indicated by a white
frame.

Press the shutter button halfway to focus.
When the camera focuses on the face in the white
frame, the frame will turn green.
