Using a ash ( ash photography)
The ash can be set manually as required. The ash can be used for ash
photography in a variety of shooting conditions.

Attach the ash unit and raise the ash
head.

Press the # button (I) to display options.

Use HI to choose a ash mode and press Q.
The options available and the order in which they are displayed vary depending on
the shooting mode. g “Flash modes that can be set by shooting mode” (P. 34)
AUTO Auto ash
The ash res automatically in low light or
backlight conditions.

The ash res regardless of the light
conditions.

This function allows you to reduce the red-
eye phenomenon. In S and M modes, the
ash always res.

Slow shutter speeds are used to brighten
dimly-lit backgrounds.

you press the INFO button, you can use the
dial to adjust the ash level.

Press the shutter button all the way.
# Cautions
• In [!/#!(Red-eye reduction ash)], after the pre- ashes, it takes about 1 second
before the shutter is released. Do not move the camera until shooting is complete.
• [!/#!(Red-eye reduction ash)] may not work effectively under some shooting
conditions.
• When the ash res, the shutter speed is set to 1/250 sec. or slower. When shooting
a subject against a bright background with the ll-in ash, the background may be
overexposed.
