Using separately sold accessories

 Wireless ﬂ ash control range

Position the wireless ﬂ ash units with

their remote sensors facing the camera.

The following illustration shows the

approximate ranges at which the ﬂ ash

units can be positioned. The actual control

range varies with local conditions.

# Cautions

• We recommend using a single group of up to three remote ﬂ ash units.

• Remote ﬂ ash units cannot be used for second curtain slow synchronization or anti-shock

exposures longer than 4 seconds.

• If the subject is too close to the camera, the control ﬂ ashes emitted by the camera ﬂ ash

may affect exposure (this effect can be reduced by reducing the output of the camera

ﬂ ash by, for example, using a diffuser).

• The upper limit of ﬂ ash synchronization timing is 1/250 sec. when using the ﬂ ash in

remote control mode.

Other external ﬂ ash units

Use after connecting the synchro cord to the hot shoe

or external ﬂ ash jack. When not using an external ﬂ ash

terminal, be sure to attach the cap.

When attaching a third-party ﬂ ash to the camera’s hot shoe

or external ﬂ ash jack, be careful of the following points.

Cap

• Using obsolete ﬂ ash units that apply currents of more than about 250 V to the X-contact

will damage the camera.

• Connecting ﬂ ash units with signal contacts that do not conform to Olympus speciﬁ cations

may damage the camera.

• Set the Shooting mode to M, set the shutter speed to a value no higher than ﬂ ash

synchronous speed, and set ISO sensitivity to a setting other than [AUTO].

• Flash control can only be performed by manually setting the ﬂ ash to the ISO sensitivity

and aperture values selected with the camera. Flash brightness can be adjusted by

adjusting either ISO sensitivity or aperture.

• Use a ﬂ ash with an angle of illumination suited to the lens. Angle of illumination is usually

expressed using 35-mm format equivalent focal lengths.
